People often think of accountants and CPA who are stuck in gray offices with several calculators on their desks, and that it is a boring kind of profession. Thats not so true anymore with all the varied sectors that people can go into and many of them involve a lot of travel.

If you think youd like life on the road, there are certain areas of accounting that you should look into. Auditors often travel a lot, and its a great way to rack up those frequent flyer miles. You will be sent to places sometimes for periods of months, and while not all places will be exotic or cities of the world, they often can be. If you arent married, and dont want to go home on weekends, its a great way to see the country and the world and on an expense account while you do it. International accounting firms are also a good place to look. The Big Four as well as others all have offices all over the world, and if you put in a couple of years after college in one of their American offices, chances are you can transfer to an international office. If youve ever dreamed of living abroad, this is a great way to pursue it and at a great salary. The tourism and travel business is also a good place to look. Hotel chains, resorts, and travel companies all have staff CPAs. You can still pick your speciality like tax, asset management and the traditional fields, but by increasing your knowledge of the sector, you can secure some interesting jobs. If you are bilingual, that can be a huge asset and that could turn into a big international job offer.
